Silent
film actress Clara Bow was one of the most popular stars of
the twenties. Forever known as the "It" girl after starring
in the 1927 film of the same name, Clara influenced fashion
and make-up. Decades before Marilyn Monroe, Clara was truly
the first sex symbol of the movies. Flapper era audiences
swooned with just a sly look from the coquettish star who
portrayed the average working girl's plights on the screen.
During her heyday, Clara worked at a remarkable pace, churning
out 14 films in 1925 alone, and was successful in making the
leap from silent to talking films.
